Events
Here are the regular events for families that are hosted by the Children’s and Youth Program.
October
What: Pumpkin Glow Potluck and Party.
When: Sunday evening before Halloween.
Why: Bask in the Glow of 100 pumpkins!
How: BYO pumpkin, knives, and candle. BYO a dinner dish to share and utensils. Enjoy a potluck dinner and carve your pumpkin with the BVUUF community. (pre-scooped is recommended, so you have time to carve it.) While the pumpkins glow, we offer a sing-a-long and entertainment.
November
What: Book Fair
When: After services for two Sundays in early November.
Why: Help the CYRE Scholarship Fund. We receive 15% profit from sales.
How: Order books for children and adults picked especially for us from a local bookstore. Receive them in early December in time for holiday giving.
December
What: Christmas Eve No-Rehearsal Pageant and Candlelight Service
When: 5 p.m. Christmas Eve
Why: Tell the story, sing songs and enjoy the beauty of candlelight. Add family and community time and reduce the focus on consumerism.
How: Wear a costume to be an angel, shepherd, manger animal, star, wise guys, etc. or use the ones on stage.
December
What: Chalica Winter Camp
When: Three days between Christmas and New Year’s.
Why: Learn about Unitarian Universalism, celebrate winter break!

January
What: Bingo Night and Potluck
When: Late January
Why: Spend a little fun time together.
How: Donate white elephant prizes for children and adults. Play the game, enjoy the camaraderie, win a giant stuffed animal (or not!)
March/April (Easter Sunday)
What: Soup Hunt for children
When: Easter Sunday
Why: Emphasize giving to others and enjoy the hunting. Canned goods are donated to Boulder County AIDS project.
How: Bring in canned goods. We hide them, and then the children are invited to hunt for them after each service.
April
What: Used Book Sale
When: After services during two Sundays.
Why: Enjoy a new book!
How: Bring in your books for children and adults. Pay 25 cents for new-to-you summer reading!
June
What: BVUUF Day Camp
When: Second week in June.
Why: Children K-5th spend a week immersed in friendship and learning. Teens serve as counselors.
