The UUA: No more isms
Bob Norris, speaking; Harry Albert, worship associate

Bob Norris will speak on issues, beliefs, and facts concerning immigration. Why is this important to him? How does this relate to the Seven Principles? Bob will discuss the history of the UUA’s consistently strong support of immigrants, immigrant rights, and the need for reform, not more oppressive state laws. As Unitarians we believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We have since our beginning opposed isms. The ism of the day is the lumping of all immigrants together rather than considering each human as an individual with individual stories, families, and contributions to society as well as the assumption that all undocumented immigrants are from Mexico and ignoring why they are here.
Carmen Sandim marks the end of Summer Services with her beautiful piano music.

Please note that this is our last service on our summer schedule. Next week we return to two services at 9 and 11 am.

Drops of Water: Annual Merging of the Waters Service
Rev. Lydia Ferrante-Roseberrry, preaching; Maryann Balassa, Worship Associate

Today, as we come together for our annual Merging of the Waters Service, we explore how we, like water, might be far stronger together than we are apart. We will also welcome former members of Open Circle Congregation, the lay-lead UU congregation that disbanded this summer. Today we begin giving half of our collection plate away to the community beyond our doors. Watch for more details to come!
From tranquil streams to rushing waters, the Fellowship Singers enhance today’s service with flowing song.

Today is our return to our two-service schedule; services at 9 and 11 am.

Building Beloved Community
Rev. Lydia Ferrante-Roseberry, preaching; Diane Witt, worship associate

What does it take to build a ‘beloved community’? A community holds love and our inter-relatedness as its deepest values. Today we explore what it takes for us at BVUUF to be that community. We’ll also welcome our new staff and commission our newly elected Board and Committee on Ministry. Music by Bill Douglas, jazz piano, and Bruce Orr, bassoon, underline today’s service theme and provide a sneak preview for next week’s Sunday at Four offering.

Widening the Circle: Beloved Community in the Public Square
Rev. Lydia Ferrante-Roseberrry, preaching
What’s our connection to the public square? How much can and should we collectively bring our faith into current political affairs? Today we explore this question with the words and works of 20th-century Unitarian theologian James Luther Adams.
Look for a surprise musical treat, to be announced.

Members are invited today put their faith into action at a special Colorado Unitarian Universalists “Standing on the Side of Love” service outside the State Capitol. Watch for more details!
